Islamabad: After the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Pakistan has responded immediately and bluntly, warning the international community that such actions can engulf the entire region in war. The Foreign Office spokesperson said in his strong statement that the US attack, carried out in continuation of Israeli actions, is in no way acceptable; it is not only an attack on Iran’s sovereignty but also a clear violation of international law. Pakistan made it clear that Iran has a legitimate and legal right to defend itself, and any attempt to suppress this right can lead the region to the worst possible outcome.
The Foreign Office stressed that in the current situation, the parties must fully respect international humanitarian law. Priority should be given to the lives of citizens, peace and regional stability, and diplomacy and dialogue should be promoted instead of the use of force. Pakistan urged the United Nations to play an urgent role in defusing the crisis. The statement ended on a hopeful but cautionary note: “Negotiations are the only way out; otherwise, history will not hesitate to write the results of war.”
