Russian media’s important claim on Iran’s modern missiles

ISLAMABAD: Amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East, a new debate about Iran’s military capabilities emerged when Russian media claimed that Iran has used advanced missiles that could prove to be more complex targets for conventional missile defence systems. However, these reports could not be confirmed by independent sources, nor have US officials officially confirmed these claims.

According to reports, Iran’s new missiles are allegedly capable of changing their trajectory during high-speed flight, due to which they are being considered relatively difficult to stop by conventional defence systems. Defence observers say that if a missile has such technical features, it can create new challenges for the current air defence strategy.

Russian media have also claimed that US defence circles are examining Iran’s growing missile capabilities, particularly with regard to the alleged accuracy of hitting targets. However, the US Department of Defence (Pentagon) has not issued any official technical report or statement on this.

According to experts, military claims cannot be immediately verified in war or tense situations. Information about modern weapons usually becomes clear only after satellite images, technical analyses, intelligence reports and official statements, so initial reports cannot be considered the final truth.

Defence analysts say that Iran has been focusing on improving its indigenous missile technology for the past few years, while the United States and its allies continue to take steps to further strengthen the defence system in the region. In such a situation, the impact of any new claim on regional security and defence strategy is carefully assessed.

According to international observers, the security situation in the Middle East has already entered a sensitive phase under the current circumstances, so every new report on defence capabilities is gaining international attention. However, more information is being awaited from official and independent sources to confirm the claims of Russian media regarding Iran’s alleged advanced missiles.
