Punjab decides to closely monitor honorary scheme

The Punjab government has decided to strictly monitor and continuously monitor the honorary scheme, making it clear that there will be no room for those who adopt anti-state narratives.
According to the Punjab Home Department’s announcement, the honorary scheme is only for those who play a role in promoting social peace and religious harmony while remaining within the ambit of the law. The honorary scheme will be immediately stopped in case of any violation.
According to officials, based on the reports of security agencies, an investigation of 66,000 imams of mosques in the province was completed, against whom no anti-state activity could be proven.
The announcement said that the government believes in freedom of religious activities, however, elements that affect public order will not be given official patronage and misuse of the honorary scheme will not be tolerated.
