Islamabad— The Foreign Office has strongly criticized India’s recent statements, saying that attempts to link Pakistan with terrorism are misleading and unacceptable. Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, in his weekly press briefing, termed the Indian Prime Minister’s allegations as provocative and irresponsible and said that such statements are tantamount to inflaming tensions in the region.
He said that Pakistan, as a responsible state, is committed to peace and stability in the region, and the international community should take notice of India’s irresponsible behavior. The spokesperson warned that if India commits any kind of aggression, Pakistan is fully capable of giving a befitting reply.
The Foreign Office says that the Kashmir issue is the biggest obstacle to lasting peace in the region, and its solution should be in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The spokesperson also expressed concern over India’s closure of the Kartarpur Corridor since May 7, saying that while Pakistan is welcoming pilgrims while respecting religious freedom, India should protect the rights of the Sikh community.
He said that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India is continuing effectively, and both countries are in constant contact to reduce military movements, which is reducing tension in the region.
