Doha: After months of tension and rising security concerns, a ceasefire agreement has finally been reached between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The decision was taken during talks in Doha with the joint efforts of Qatar and Turkey. According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, the two countries have also agreed to establish a lasting peace framework in future meetings so that border disputes and terrorism issues can be resolved on a permanent basis.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), “A ceasefire has been agreed between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Now there will be no terrorist attacks against Pakistan from Afghan soil.”
He added that the next meeting will be held in Istanbul on October 25, where delegations from both countries will hold detailed talks to build bilateral relations on a solid foundation.
Experts say that if the agreement is successful in practice, it will be a positive signal not only for border peace but also for political stability in the entire region.
