New shock in inflation: prices of ghee and cooking oil increased further

Lahore: A new wave of inflation across the country has shocked the public once again as the prices of ghee and cooking oil have been significantly increased.

According to the report, manufacturers have increased the price of ghee by Rs 12 per kg and a 5 kg packet of cooking oil by Rs 70. After this, a 16 kg tin of ghee is available in the open market for Rs 8,550 and a 5 kg packet of oil for Rs 2,850.

In the wholesale market, ghee is being sold for Rs 535 per kg and cooking oil for Rs 572. According to dealers, the prices of various brands have also been increased by Rs 10 to 15 per kg or per liter, which has further increased the expenses of domestic consumers.

A change has also been seen in the prices of big brands; a 10-liter can of cooking oil is now available for Rs 6,400, while other packets have also become expensive.

According to experts, the rising prices of edible oil at the global level and local production costs are the main reasons for this increase, but this situation is proving unbearable for the common citizen.
