Nepra’s decision: Electricity cheaper by Rs. 1.79 per unit, relief for consumers

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a reduction in electricity prices for DISCO consumers. According to the notification, electricity has been reduced by Rs 1.79 per unit as part of the July fuel cost adjustment.

According to the notification, this reduction will be applicable to all DISCO and K-Electric consumers, however, Lifeline consumers, prepaid consumers and electric vehicle charging stations will be exempted from this relief.

The notification further states that this relief will be provided to consumers in the September electricity bills. It may be recalled that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested a reduction of Rs 1.69 per unit as part of the July fuel cost adjustment, on which the rates were reduced by Rs 1.79 per unit.
