National Institute of Health issues smog prevention advisory.

Islamabad: The National Institute of Health in Islamabad has issued an important advisory in view of the increasing smog, warning citizens that the combination of air pollution and cold can lead to serious health problems, especially pneumonia.

According to the advisory, the people most affected by air pollution include children, the elderly, and citizens who already suffer from respiratory or heart diseases. The health institute has asked citizens to avoid going out unnecessarily during this season.

The NIH says that smog is likely to increase in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, while the situation is said to be more serious in Lahore, where the amount of toxic substances in the air has increased to an alarming level.

The advisory has directed health authorities to take immediate steps to deal with smog, while parents have been urged not to leave children outside for long periods of time in smog-prone areas and to ensure they wear masks when going out.
