Islamabad: The National Assembly has passed a condemnation resolution, strongly reacting to the alleged verbal and threatening conversation between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and a prominent journalist in Adiala Jail.
The resolution clarified that the ill-treatment of the journalist and the subsequent threats made on social media are an attack on freedom of the press, therefore, the Interior Ministry has been directed to provide complete security to the affected journalist. Along with this, legal action has also been directed to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing.
According to the resolution, not only indecent language was used in the incident that took place in the jail, but physical threats were also made. The House termed this behavior unacceptable and undemocratic.
PTI members strongly opposed the resolution and tore up copies of the agenda in a fierce protest in the house. Barrister Gohar said that the media has always acted as the voice of the people and PTI has always supported it, however, it is not right to give a decision without knowing the facts of the incident.
