Islamabad – The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has changed the date of the MDCAT 2026 exam for admission to medical and dental colleges across the country and announced that it will be held on September 20 instead of August 16. According to the council, this decision has been taken with the aim of making the conduct of the examination more effective, transparent and convenient for the candidates.
In a statement issued by the PMDC, it was stated that the new date has been fixed after the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan so that the examination arrangements can be completed in a better manner and all the candidates can get equal facilities. The council clarified that no changes have been made in the examination procedure, eligibility criteria and other conditions at present.
Candidates have been advised to stay in constant touch with the official sources of PMDC for the latest information, roll number slips and other necessary instructions so that they can be informed of any new information in a timely manner.
According to education experts, the new date of the examination can also prove beneficial for students who were facing problems related to completing their preparations or registration. In recent weeks, students from some areas, including Azad Kashmir, had pointed out the internet shutdown and difficulties encountered in the registration process, to which the concerned authorities assured them they would provide facilities.
It should be noted that MDCAT is a mandatory exam for admission to government and private medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. A large number of candidates appear for it every year, while the competition is extremely tough due to the limited number of seats available. According to observers, the change in the exam date can help further improve administrative preparations and provide additional time to candidates, which is also expected to increase the transparency and trust of the examination process.
