Pakistan’s Humanitarian Initiative: Facilitating the Repatriation of 30 Iranian Nationals

Islamabad: Pakistan has facilitated the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals on humanitarian grounds, including fishermen rescued from the sea and crew members of various ships.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, while giving a statement on social media platform X, said that Pakistan is happy to facilitate this process and is in close contact with all relevant parties.

He said that these individuals include eight Iranian fishermen who were rescued by the British ship MMA Valour when their boat was stranded at sea, while 22 others belong to the crew of the ship that was taken into custody by the US authorities during the recent operation.

According to Ishaq Dar, all these individuals will be sent to their country from Karachi in the coming days, where all arrangements are being made for their safe return.

He said that Pakistan is in constant contact with the authorities of Iran, the United States and the United Kingdom throughout this process so that this matter can be completed amicably on humanitarian grounds.

The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan has always adhered to the principles of humanitarianism and regional cooperation and will continue to take such steps in the future as well.

According to international sources, US forces had detained an Iranian oil tanker in recent months, which was accused of transporting oil from Iran. The crew of this ship was later transferred to Pakistan.

Pakistan had previously facilitated the return of the crew of an Iranian ship taken into US custody in a similar incident, which was described as part of confidence-building measures in the region.

According to analysts, this role of Pakistan reflects a policy based on diplomatic balance and humanitarianism in the region.
