ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the acceleration of legal action against the United States and Israel, saying that the military attacks in recent years have caused Iran huge losses in terms of humans, economics and infrastructure, which should be redressed at the legal level.
According to Iranian media, the Supreme Leader, while addressing judicial authorities, said that thousands of legal cases could be filed in view of the deaths, injuries and financial losses caused by the attacks in June 2025 last year and February 2026 this year.
He said that Iran’s judiciary has the responsibility to use all legal means to protect the rights of affected citizens and try to ensure accountability of the responsible elements under international law.
Mojtaba Khamenei, referring to the deaths of children in Minab and Lamard and damage to medical centres, public service facilities and civilian areas, described these incidents as serious war crimes.
He further claimed that public statements by some American and Israeli officials are tantamount to accepting responsibility for these actions, which further strengthens Iran’s legal position.
The Supreme Leader directed the judiciary to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities to protect public rights, provide justice, eradicate corruption, promote constitutional and legal freedoms, and defend national interests.
He said that the role of the judiciary is not limited to deciding individual cases but is also linked to public trust and the stability of the legal system at the national level.
According to analysts, Iran’s emphasis on legal action has come at a time when diplomatic activities and efforts to reduce tensions are underway in the region. However, there was no immediate official response from the US and Israel to these Iranian statements.
