Lahore: Meat prices have been continuously increasing across the country, and the Federal Ministry of Production has proposed a temporary ban on the export of mutton, beef, chicken, and eggs to deal with this situation. The agriculture and livestock sectors have been hit hard by the recent floods, which is directly affecting the price of meat supplies.
The price of mutton in the markets of various cities, including Lahore, has reached Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 per kg, while the government guidelines had fixed the price at Rs 1,600 per kg. The official rate of beef has been fixed at Rs 800 per kg.
Experts say that if a temporary ban on exports is imposed, the availability of meat in the local market may improve, and prices are likely to come down. This move is expected to provide relief to consumers and stabilize the market situation.
