Karachi – The final decision on the date of Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan will be subject to the sighting of the moon of Zil-Hijjah, for which a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been convened in Karachi tomorrow.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, if the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, while if the moon is not sighted, Eid will be celebrated on Thursday, May 28.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will take a decision in the light of testimonies received from across the country and reports from the Meteorological Department.
Like every year, this time too, millions of Muslims will perform Sunnah Ibrahimi on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and religious fervor will be seen across the country.
According to astronomers, the chances of moon sighting depend on weather conditions and local observations, on the basis of which the final announcement is made.
