Lahore: The 29th meeting of the Punjab Cabinet, held under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, not only approved a large financial package for the flood victims, but also took several important social and administrative decisions that reflect the new era of governance in the province.

The cabinet, while approving a comprehensive relief package for the flood victims, decided that the heirs of the deceased would be given assistance of up to Rs 1 million. Significant compensation will also be given for the loss of crops, houses, and livestock.

Maryam Nawaz said in the meeting that “this government is not just a government of projects but a government of responsibility.” She clarified that the Punjab government will not allow construction on the river banks in the future to reduce the losses of natural disasters.

The Chief Minister announced a Rs15,000 increase in the salaries of Civil Defense volunteers, saying, “These people are our first line of defense, it is our duty to pay tribute to their services.”

The meeting also decided to reduce the rate of solar power by Rs2 per unit, reduce tax on rent-a-car service to 15 percent, and temporarily suspend tax on beauty parlors.

The Punjab cabinet also approved the recruitment of 8,084 teaching interns and 872 civil judges on this occasion, which is expected to improve employment and the judicial system.

According to observers, Maryam Nawaz’s recent meeting is not limited to relief measures but is a reflection of a broader government vision, which points towards transparent governance, human welfare, and modern administrative reforms.
