Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has released a regular schedule for holding elections in phases. According to Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, the polling will begin from July 27, while elections in different divisions will be held on separate dates so that administrative and security arrangements can be ensured effectively.
Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, the Chief Election Commissioner said that in the first phase, voting will be held in Mirpur division on July 27. In the second phase, polling will be held in Muzaffarabad division on August 2, while in the third phase, voters of Poonch division will exercise their franchise on August 10.
Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said that the services of the Pakistan Army will be sought to maintain law and order during the elections. According to him, it has been decided to hold the elections in phases instead of holding them on a single day, keeping in mind the availability of military personnel.
He further said that voting on 12 reserved seats for refugees will also be held on August 2, which will be held along with the election phase in Muzaffarabad division.
The Chief Election Commissioner expressed his determination that the Election Commission has completed all necessary arrangements for holding transparent, free and fair elections. He said that with the cooperation of the relevant institutions, the election process will be completed in a peaceful and orderly manner.
