Agreement between government and sugar mills: sugar price to be increased in phases

Islamabad: The decision to increase sugar prices has come after an important agreement between the government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association. Both parties have agreed to increase the ex-mill price of sugar by Rs 2 per kg every month for the next three months.

According to the agreement, the price of sugar will be Rs 165 per kg from July 15, 2025, which will increase to Rs 167 on August 15, Rs 169 on September 15, and Rs 171 per kg from October 15.

The agreement was signed by Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Secretary General of the Sugar Mills Association Imran Ahmed. According to officials, this step has been taken to maintain the supply of sugar and control prices in the market.
