A New Era for PTCL: Profits Soar as 5G Launch Nears

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark announcement for Pakistan’s tech landscape, PTCL Group has officially exited a four-year loss-making streak, reporting a robust turnaround in its 2026 opening quarter. The Group, which suffered a Rs4 billion loss in Q1 2025, has successfully reversed its fortunes to claim a Rs3.1 billion net profit.

The driver of this growth? A successful synergy between PTCL, Ufone, and the recently acquired Telenor Pakistan. Hatem Bamatraf, President and Group CEO, described the company as entering a “new phase of sustainable growth”. He promised that the ongoing merger between Ufone and Telenor would translate into a superior service experience for millions of Pakistani subscribers.

The most anticipated news for tech enthusiasts remains the May 2026 launch of 5G. This move is expected to revolutionise digital entrepreneurship and enterprise services across the country. Additionally, the Group’s banking arm, U Bank, showed signs of a strong recovery with Rs5.8 billion in revenue, rounding off a quarter of comprehensive growth across all subsidiaries.
