Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan has issued a statement saying that overseas Pakistanis sent $3.5 billion in remittances to Pakistan during April 2026, which is 11.4% more than April last year.

According to the central bank, remittances have become an important support for the country’s economy and are playing a key role in maintaining the stability of foreign exchange reserves. The statement said that the highest remittances were received from Saudi Arabia during April, where Pakistanis sent more than $840 million home.

Similarly, the United Arab Emirates came in second place, from where remittances of $730 million came to Pakistan. According to experts, Pakistani workers working in the Gulf countries are continuously supporting the country’s economy.

The State Bank said that although remittances increased significantly on an annual basis in April, there was a 7.6% decline in remittances compared to March 2026.

According to the data, total remittances reached $33.9 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, which shows a better performance compared to the previous year.

Economic analysts say that remittances are playing an important role in keeping Pakistan’s current account deficit low, meeting import payments and reducing pressure on the rupee.

According to experts, the increase in facilities to send money through legal and digital means by the government and the banking sector has also attracted Pakistanis abroad to use formal channels.

Economic observers say that despite global economic pressures and the changing economic situation in the Gulf countries, the continued remittances from Pakistani immigrants are a positive sign for the country’s economy.

They said that if employment opportunities in the Gulf region continue and government policies continue, further stability in remittances may be seen in the coming months.

According to experts, remittances are not only a source of financial support for millions of families but also play a fundamental role in stabilizing the country’s economy.
