Islamabad, December 24, 2024 – Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted, claiming that there is no contradiction with the legal system of the country with the international human rights conventions. The Foreign Office has elaborated it in a statement that the actions by military courts are delivered in compliance with the laws passed by the Pakistan Parliament. State interests were further reiterated by stressing that Pakistan has a functional higher judiciary that oversees the judicial process. As mentioned in the statement, the decisions of military courts were upheld by the existing Supreme Court decisions. The Foreign Office emphasised again that Pakistan continues to pursue its international human rights responsibilities. It emphasized that the nation’s legal system is in accord with the terms of the international human rights laws or standards; it also guarantees the country’s commitment to uphold and defend basic liberties and rights.
