Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that ending the war with the US is possible through Iran’s military superiority or negotiations, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated that efforts for negotiations will continue.

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that the ongoing tension with the United States can be ended only in two cases: either Iran gains a decisive advantage on the battlefield or the parties make acceptable progress at the negotiating table.

In an interview with the Iranian News Agency, Abbas Araqchi said that negotiations during any war are effective only when the relevant country has achieved a strong position on the military and strategic level. According to him, diplomacy and military strategy are not separate from each other but are interrelated factors.

He said that the state leadership should make decisions regarding the lives and property of the people and the national future after utmost caution and thorough analysis. He said that every decision regarding war should be made keeping in mind the national interest, ground realities and possible consequences.

Abbas Araqchi added that it is necessary for the political leadership to constantly assess whether the country is benefiting from continuing the war or its economic, humanitarian and political effects are proving to be more severe.

According to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Iran certainly suffered various losses during the recent conflict, but according to him, the country also demonstrated its potential as an effective power on the global stage and the strength of its state system.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in his latest statement that the US has attempted diplomatic contacts and negotiations with Iran on several occasions and Washington wants to maintain the possibility of talks in the future.

Both sides have recently made statements indicating that there is some remaining room for diplomacy. How things will play out in the region will depend on what happens on the ground and what political move is made by both sides.
