Islamabad: There has been an important development in the Supreme Court on the issue of PTI founder Imran Khan’s hospital transfer. The objection of the Registrar’s Office has been removed on the contempt of court petition filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan.
After the objection was removed, the petition was resubmitted. The Supreme Court Registrar’s Office has also allotted it the number 8/2026.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, including other officials, have been made parties in the petition.
The petition has taken the position that the court order regarding the transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for treatment has not been fully implemented. The petitioner has also requested the court to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The Registrar’s Office initially objected to the petition and returned it. The objection stated that the list of contempt of court allegations leveled against the parties in the petition was not provided.
PTI removed the objection of the Registrar’s Office and resubmitted the application. After this, the application was given a regular number.
This matter is related to the August 18 order of the Supreme Court. PTI is of the opinion that according to the order, Imran Khan should have been shifted to Shifa International Hospital. The party says that the court’s direction was not fully implemented.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also reached the Supreme Court for an early hearing of the application. The party leadership called Imran Khan’s health important and requested immediate judicial action on the matter.
On the other hand, the government has called the security situation the main reason for shifting Imran Khan to PIMS instead of Shifa Hospital. This issue has become a fundamental difference of opinion between the government and PTI.
The Supreme Court will now see in this matter to what extent the August 18 court order was implemented and whether the actions of the relevant authorities were legally acceptable or not.
According to the latest developments, Uzma Khan’s contempt of court petition has been fixed for hearing on September 16, 2026. The hearing will be conducted by a three-member bench.
This case is also important because it not only involves the issue of Imran Khan’s medical facilities but also the question of implementation of court orders. The court will decide on the matter after reviewing the positions of the parties and the available records.
