Karachi: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi met with the Chinese Consul General Feng Deheng at Karachi’s Chinese Consulate, where the two discussed the developments in the region and areas of mutual cooperation with China, along with the Pakistan-China relations.
Hashmi headed to the Chinese Consulate, where he was greeted by Feng Deheng and other consulate officials. The two sides discussed the legacy of the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and the evolving regional scenario.
The Sindh governor termed the partnership between the two countries as a “longstanding partnership” which stayed strong through the rough weather. The ongoing cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing holds significance, especially now that new challenges are being faced in the region, he added.
On the issue of regional stability, Hashmi commented that “Dialogue and diplomacy are the best ways to resolve conflicts. He said that confrontation would not have any lasting solutions and appealed for more efforts in peaceful settlement of differences.
The governor also said that Pakistan is keen on further expanding cooperation with China in technology, trade and development. He said Chinese technology and experience had the potential to provide more opportunities for economic cooperation.
Pakistan has made efforts towards regional peace and stability, which was welcomed by Feng Deheng, and China has a close relationship with Pakistan, which was reaffirmed. Beijing has continued to show interest in advancing the bilateral partnership, he said.
Possible fields of cooperation in trade, technology, development, and others of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. Both sides emphasised the need for regular communication and translating bilateral cooperation into tangible projects.
True, if Pakistan and China could cooperate more closely, it can help in economic growth and development in the region, Hashmi concluded. He hoped that the two countries would build on their already-established partnership and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The meeting came on the heels of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation with China in the fields of trade, investment, technology and development, which are part of their bilateral relationship.
