Tehran: Iran has announced steps to address the growing economic pressure caused by US sanctions and the current tensions. Iranian officials say that stabilising the economy and reducing the hardships faced by the people are among the government’s top priorities.

Iran is currently facing currency devaluation, inflation and employment-related problems. US sanctions have also affected oil exports, foreign trade and access to the global financial system. The recent increase in pressure on oil shipments has made it more difficult for Tehran to obtain foreign exchange.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stressed the need for urgent measures to address economic problems. According to him, internal reforms and increased production are necessary to strengthen the country’s economy.

Iranian officials have made it clear that economic reforms are an internal matter of the country. Tehran maintains that local capabilities will be improved to run the economy despite external pressure.

The Iranian government has also activated a special economic system to deal with the economic effects of the war and sanctions. The aim is to monitor the supply of essential goods, financial transactions and problems facing the domestic market.

On the other hand, Iran has also decided to increase the price of gasoline for heavy consumers. According to the government, the price of the additional quota will be increased for those who use more than 110 litres of gasoline per month. The prices of the first two quotas will remain unchanged.

The pressure on Iran’s economy is increasing at a time when the United States has further expanded the scope of sanctions. Washington has also targeted some institutions linked to the Iranian financial network. The aim of this policy is to limit Tehran’s income and global financial links.

The coming days will be important for Tehran in both economic and diplomatic terms. On the one hand, the government has to deal with inflation and currency pressure, while on the other hand, it will also have to reduce the impact of sanctions on oil exports and global trade. The Iranian leadership says that the country will try to continue its economic activities despite these difficulties.
