Lahore: The moon sighting phase for the start of Rabi-ul-Azha 1448 AH is expected on the evening of September 12.
According to Suparco, the new lunar moon will form on September 11 at 8:27 am. The crescent moon will be visible about a day later.
According to the available information, the chances of sighting the crescent in the coastal areas of the country will be relatively good.
In other areas, binoculars may have to be used to check the presence of the crescent.In case of moon sighting, the first day of Rabi-ul-Azha will be September 13.
However, the final confirmation of this date will be made only after the official process of sighting the crescent.The Central Ruet-ul-Azha Committee will review the evidence received from different parts of the country.
After that, the committee will make an official announcement about the start of Rabi-ul-Azha. Astronomical calculations provide scientific guidance regarding the birth of the moon and its possible sighting.
However, these calculations are not a substitute for the final decision of Islamic sighting.
