Doha: Qatar has urged Iran to immediately refrain from all actions that could affect peace and stability in the Middle East or pose risks to the safety of international shipping.

A statement issued by Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said that the current regional situation is extremely sensitive, so all parties should exercise restraint and a responsible attitude in accordance with international laws and obligations to avoid any further escalation.

The spokesman said that Qatar opposes such actions that affect commercial activities in important sea lanes or the safe system of global shipping. According to him, maintaining stability in the region is necessary not only for the countries concerned but also for the global economy and international trade.

The statement called on Iran to immediately stop all actions that could harm regional security or create threats to international shipping.

According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, if any damage or negative situation arises as a result of such actions, Iran will be responsible for it. The spokesman said that diplomatic channels and negotiations are the only sustainable way to resolve disputes, while increasing tensions would be against the interests of all countries in the region.

Qatar once again expressed its determination to continue supporting diplomatic efforts to promote peace, stability and respect for international law in the Gulf region.
