This decision comes as the country grapples with severe fuel constraints and a desperate need to prevent a sharp increase in electricity tariffs for the general public.
​According to a statement issued by the Power Division, the suspension of electricity supply will occur for approximately 2.25 hours daily, specifically targeted within the high-demand window of 5:00pm to 1:00am. By implementing these rolling blackouts during peak hours, authorities hope to reduce the national reliance on expensive imported fuels, which typically drive up the cost of generation when the grid is under maximum strain.
