Islamabad: September bills for electricity consumers have become more expensive. NEPRA has increased the price of electricity by Rs 2.6 per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment.
The increase is related to the July 2026 fuel price adjustment. Under this decision, about Rs 33 billion additional will be collected from consumers. Nepra issued a decision regarding the July fuel charges adjustment on September 4.
The effect of the new increase will be reflected in the September 2026 electricity bills. Consumers will have to pay the additional amount based on the units of electricity used.
Meanwhile, NEPRA has also approved the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026. In this regard, it has been decided to increase the cost of electricity by 52 paisa per unit.
The quarterly adjustment will be implemented from September to November 2026. This increase will transfer a total additional burden of Rs. 12 billion 67 crore on electricity consumers.
According to NEPRA’s decision, the quarterly adjustment will also be applied to K-Electric consumers.
Thus, both monthly and quarterly adjustments may be included in the electricity bills for September. As a result, consumers will have to pay additional money in their bills.
NEPRA changes electricity rates from time to time through fuel price adjustments and quarterly adjustments. Decisions on various adjustments are officially issued by the organization.
After the new decisions, additional charges will continue to be levied in electricity bills from September to November. The impact on consumers’ bills will vary according to their electricity usage and the relevant tariff.
