ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has said that for effective delivery of justice, it is necessary to strengthen district courts and empower subordinate judges.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the Chief Justice said that district courts are the most important level between the common citizen and the justice system. The judges of these courts are discharging their responsibilities even in difficult circumstances.

He stressed on making the communication between district courts and high courts more effective. He said that district courts should be informed about the needs of resources and facilities required for the delivery of justice so that practical steps can be taken.

Justice Yahya Afridi said that the aim of the judiciary is to provide an environment where subordinate judges can make decisions with confidence. This process will also strengthen the public’s confidence in the judicial system.

According to the Chief Justice, changes have been made in the code of conduct to protect judges from external pressure. He clarified that judges who face pressure in the path of justice have the support of the entire judiciary.

He paid tribute to the judges who sacrificed their lives while delivering justice and said that their sacrifices are a reminder of the responsibility and commitment of the judicial system.
