Tehran: Iran has reacted strongly to the rising tension in the Middle East, saying that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon is worrying for the stability of the region, while due to recent developments, some existing diplomatic arrangements and reconciliation frameworks are losing their effectiveness.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in its statement that Iran’s administrative and security measures are being violated in the Strait of Hormuz, while Israeli military operations in Lebanon are also continuing. According to the ministry, the situation on both fronts has further increased tensions in the region.

The statement urged countries in the region not to allow their territory or military installations to be used for any US action against Iran. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said that if any country’s territory is used for attacks on Iran, Tehran will consider it an act against its national security and reserves the right to respond accordingly.

Iran added that after the recent military attacks and sanctions on Iranian oil sales, some of the agreements and parts of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) have practically lost their effectiveness. According to the Foreign Ministry, Iran will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and reserves the right to target those places from which aggression is launched against it.

On the other hand, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that a US drone has been shot down in the southern region of the country. The IRGC also claimed that 85 targets linked to US interests in Bahrain and Kuwait were hit.

However, there was no immediate confirmation of these military claims by independent sources or the relevant countries, while official responses from the US, Bahrain and Kuwait are also awaited.

According to analysts, the recent statements and claims have further increased the already existing tensions in the Middle East. They say that if diplomatic efforts are not effective, it could also have an impact on the security of the region, global energy supplies and international trade. The international community has been continuously urging all parties to resolve the conflict through restraint, diplomacy and negotiations.
