Iran Blames US-Israeli “Miscalculations” for Middle East War Surge; Slams American Diplomacy

TEHRAN — In a hard-hitting interview with Egyptian media, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, has levelled serious allegations against the United States, claiming that Washington has been dragged into a wider conflict due to Israel’s strategic miscalculations. Baghaei emphasised that the ongoing regional instability is a direct result of “provocations” that have now forced American military involvement in a war that continues to threaten Middle Eastern stability.

The spokesperson didn’t mince words regarding the current state of global trust in American mediation. “No one in the world will trust American diplomacy anymore,” Baghaei asserted, adding that Washington merely “pretends” to engage in dialogue as a facade to impose its demands and project military might. This statement marks a significant hardening of Tehran’s rhetorical stance, suggesting that the window for any meaningful diplomatic rapprochement between the two nations has effectively shuttered in the wake of recent hostilities.

Baghaei’s comments come at a time when regional tensions are at an all-time high. By framing the US as a secondary actor influenced by Israeli decisions, Tehran is signalling that it views the US-Israeli alliance not as a partnership of equals but as a dangerous dynamic where “wrong estimations” by Tel Aviv are dictating American foreign policy. As the conflict escalates, this narrative from the Iranian foreign ministry is likely to resonate with several regional players who are increasingly sceptical of Western intervention in the current war.
