Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President Asif Ali Zardari, in which the overall political and security situation of the country was discussed.
According to sources, the situation arising from the long march of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also discussed in the meeting.
Members of the government committee established for talks with the opposition briefed the president and the prime minister about the talks. Consultations were also held on the current status of the talks and the future course of action.
Sources say that the meeting between the president and the prime minister took place after the ceremony of presenting the Nishan-e-Imtiaz to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
It was agreed in the meeting that the process of consultation on political and security issues facing the country will continue. According to sources, it was also agreed to give importance to consultation with the relevant parties before taking any constitutional or legal action.
In the context of the recent political situation, the meeting between the president and the prime minister is being described as part of ongoing consultations at the government level.
