Sargodha: Police and the Crime Control Department (CCD) have further expanded the scope of the investigation into the tragic case of the alleged murder and sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in Sargodha and detained five people, while preliminary evidence has also come to light against the main accused.

According to police officials, the case was registered after the girl’s body was recovered from a shop, which sparked a wave of anger and outrage in the entire area. After the incident, law enforcement agencies took immediate action and arrested several people, including the main accused.
A statement issued by the Sargodha Police said that the shop owner, the main accused and two other people have been arrested, while another suspect was also detained during the investigation. Officials say that all aspects of the case are being closely examined so that everyone involved in the incident can be brought to justice.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sohaib Ashraf confirmed that a fifth suspect has also been arrested, but did not provide further details about his role and possible charges. He said that the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released after all the facts come out.

On the other hand, a local court in Sargodha has granted six-day physical remand of the main accused so that the investigating agencies can collect more evidence. According to investigative sources, the initial DNA report has linked the main accused to the crime scene, after which a significant breakthrough has been revealed in the case.
Sources say that during the investigation, the main accused has allegedly confessed to the crime.

However, according to legal experts, apart from the confessional statement, forensic evidence and court proceedings are of fundamental importance for the final outcome of the case.

In the application filed by the girl’s father for registration of the case, it was stated that his daughter had gone to a nearby grocery store for shopping but did not return. The family launched a search and questioned the people present at the shop. According to the complaint, the girl was later found in critical condition on the upper floor of the shop while a suspect fled the scene.

The FIR has included various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including charges of murder, rape, attempted rape and abetment. The plaintiff alleged that the incident was not just the act of one individual but other people could also be involved in it, whose role is being determined through investigation.

The incident has once again raised serious questions regarding the protection of children and social security. Civic circles and human rights organizations have demanded that the case be investigated transparently and expeditiously and the responsible elements be punished according to the law.

Officials say that the investigation is being carried out in the light of forensic reports, witness statements and other evidence, while providing justice to the victim’s family is the top priority. This tragic incident has saddened the public not only in Sargodha but across the country, where people appear united in demanding justice for the girl.
