Iran warns of military activity in Strait of Hormuz, calls security the responsibility of coastal countries

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, responding to a Congressional Research Service report on the damage to US military aircraft in the war with Iran, has called the US loss figures important.

According to Abbas Araqchi, the US had admitted to the damage to 42 military aircraft as a result of Iranian operations in May, while the report that has now emerged mentions the destruction or damage of 81 US military aircraft.

The Iranian Foreign Minister says that the actual damage to US military aircraft during the war may be higher than the figures stated in the report. However, he did not provide further details of this claim.

Abbas Araqchi also questioned the position of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that all its military bases in the region are safe. According to him, if US officials are completely satisfied with their claim, then a sitting US senator should be allowed to inspect these facilities.

The Iranian foreign minister criticized the US position in his statement, saying that information can be hidden or presented in a different way for a limited time, but it is not possible to keep the facts hidden from the public for a long time.

A report by the Congressional Research Service mentions the destruction or damage of 81 US military aircraft during the war with Iran. These figures from the report have become an important reference in the debate about US military losses during the war, while Iranian officials are presenting them as support for their position.
