Islamabad: The federal cabinet has decided to introduce new financial responsibilities for the people of the capital. The Ministry of Interior has been given the authority to increase token tax and other fees after amendments to the West Pakistan Motor Vehicle Act.

After this decision, along with private vehicles, commercial and public transport will also become expensive, while the increase in registration and transfer fees will put more burden on the common citizens.  According to government documents, the token tax is being increased for the first time since 2019 to improve revenue.
