Quetta: With the arrival of the traditional cultural festival Basant in the provincial capital Quetta, the atmosphere of the city has become pleasant and colorful. Preparations for the Basant festival have reached their peak in different areas and citizens are seen actively celebrating this festival in a full-fledged manner. Kite flying, music and other cultural activities have created an atmosphere of celebration in the city.
According to reports, immediately after the announcement of Basant, an unusual hustle and bustle is being seen in the markets and bazaars. There is a clear increase in the purchase of colorful kites, strong strings, spinning wheels and other goods. Shopkeepers say that sales have increased significantly during the last few days and the rush of buyers is increasing day by day. Youth and children are especially excited about the Basant festival and are busy buying their favorite kites.
According to the district administration, the three-day Basant festival will be celebrated in Quetta from February 13 to 15, during which various entertainment programs, cultural activities and family events will be organized to provide safe and positive entertainment to the citizens. Officials say that special measures are being taken to ensure security and safety arrangements during the festival to avoid any untoward incident.
Citizens say that Basant is not only a recreational activity but also a part of the city’s cultural identity. The festival brings people closer, strengthens social ties and provides an opportunity for families to spend time together. Kite flying on rooftops, music and enjoying traditional cuisine have become the special hallmarks of the day.
According to economic experts, such festivals also prove beneficial for local businesses as the income of small traders and cart drivers increases. The Basant festival in Quetta is also playing an important role in energizing the local economy and creating a new wave of happiness and hope in the city.
