Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to introduce a new sanitation fee system in the province. The spokesperson of the Punjab Local Government Department has announced that this fee will be between Rs 200 and Rs 5000, which will be different for residential and commercial areas.
According to officials, this step is being taken to make the local government system self-sufficient, while work is also underway to completely digitalize the billing system.
The spokesperson further said that “bills will be sent in the form of print for the first two months, after which billing will be done completely online.”
The Local Government Department has set a target of collecting Rs 15 billion for the first year, which will help in further improving local government facilities.
