Lahore – The Punjab government has officially announced government holidays across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, under which all government offices will remain closed from May 26 (Tuesday) to May 29 (Friday).

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, these holidays will consist of four days, the aim of which is to provide convenience to the public during the religious festival of Eid-ul-Adha and to give holidays to government employees.

The notification has clarified that during this time, normal office affairs will remain suspended in all government institutions across the province. However, special instructions have been issued to the concerned institutions to keep essential and emergency services partially functional so that the public does not face any kind of difficulty.

According to officials, in view of the increase in public rush, travel and civic activities on the occasion of Eid, various departments have already been instructed to make administrative preparations. The aim of these measures is to maintain transport, cleanliness, security and other basic facilities effectively.

Sources say that during the holidays, the police, Rescue 1122, and other emergency services will continue to work as usual to deal with any untoward situation immediately.

Eid-ul-Adha is an important religious festival in the Islamic world, in which Muslims repeat the Sunnah of the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). On this occasion, collective prayers, sacrifices, and family celebrations are organized across the country, due to which there is a significant reduction in official and non-official activities.

This decision of the Punjab government is being welcomed by the public, as it will not only make it easier for citizens to perform their religious duties but will also allow them to spend more time with their families.

On the other hand, administrative experts say that uninterrupted provision of civic facilities during long holidays is a big challenge, however, the situation can be better controlled with advance planning.

The Punjab government has appealed to citizens to adopt a responsible attitude towards cleanliness, traffic rules and proper care of sacrificial animals during Eid so that a safe and peaceful Eid can be celebrated collectively.
