Lahore: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, government measures have been intensified to celebrate Basant in a safe and organized manner. In this regard, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin in the Punjab Home Department in which a detailed review was taken regarding Basant preparations, security plan and availability of kite flying equipment.
During the meeting, Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, while giving a briefing, said that arrangements for Saif Basant are being finalized across the province so that citizens can enjoy the festival without fear or danger. He said that special instructions have been issued to the district administration and law enforcement agencies.
Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin said that the Chief Minister has taken strict notice of the increase in the prices of kites and strings and has ordered immediate steps to provide relief to the citizens. Under this objective, a large quantity of kite flying equipment will be shifted to Lahore from Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Multan, which will be available in a single day.
He said that the abundant supply of equipment will automatically reduce the prices in the market and discourage illegal profiteering. The government is trying to provide affordable and safe Basant facilities to the people.
Bilal Yasin further said that on the days of Basant on February 6, 7 and 8, all the relevant institutions and stakeholders will fulfill their responsibilities so that this festival can be celebrated in a safe environment. Along with Lahore, registered manufacturers in the other four districts will be allowed to sell goods only to authorized traders.
