Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has predicted intense heat in most parts of the country for the next few days, warning that the temperature in the plains may be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain hot and dry in most parts of the country on Sunday and Monday, while intense heat wave is likely to continue in the southern regions. Weather experts say that central and southern Punjab, Sindh, southern and northeastern Balochistan and lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be most affected by the intense heat wave from June 8 to 12.

The weather is also expected to remain hot and dry in Islamabad and its surrounding areas for the next few days. A significant increase in temperature may be recorded in the capital during the day.

The weather will remain hot and dry in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while intense heat conditions are likely to continue in the lower regions including Peshawar, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan. However, partly cloudy weather is expected in Kohistan, Battagram and some upper areas after noon.

In Punjab, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Sahiwal and other central and southern districts will remain in the grip of intense heat. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in these areas may be recorded several degrees higher than normal.

The intensity of heat is likely to increase further in various districts of Sindh, especially Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur and Nowshera Feroze. According to experts, the temperature in these areas may be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

In Balochistan, the weather will also remain hot and dry, while Sibi, Turbat and Panjgur will remain affected by intense heat. Similarly, the weather will remain dry in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and the temperature is expected to gradually increase.

The Meteorological Department has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, use more water and take special care of children, the elderly and the sick.
