ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will attend the proposed US-Iran deal in Geneva, where global attention will be focused on efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East. According to sources, the Prime Minister will leave for Switzerland with a high-level delegation and represent Pakistan at this important diplomatic occasion.

The event is being held at a time when the region has been facing war threats, economic pressure and disruptions to maritime trade for a long time. According to Arab media reports, after the signing of the initial memorandum of understanding, the two countries will begin a 60-day series of talks on key issues such as Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, regional security and economic cooperation.

Pakistan considers stability in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf region as part of its economic and strategic priorities. That is why Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s participation in this event is being described as not just a diplomatic activity but a reflection of Pakistan’s peace-loving stance. Pakistan has consistently maintained that regional disputes should be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect.

The initial agreement between Iran and the United States calls for a halt to military activities, the restoration of maritime traffic and the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. If these measures are implemented, it could lead to stability in global energy markets, which could benefit countries that rely on imported fuel, including Pakistan.

Although this development is being hailed as a positive step, some American and international observers have warned that different interpretations of the agreement could create problems in the future. In the past, several agreements between the United States and Iran have failed to achieve the desired results due to political differences and lack of trust.

US President Donald Trump claimed in a recent statement that the agreement with Iran has been completed and several practical steps, including lifting the naval blockade, are being initiated. According to him, the resumption of trade activities in the Strait of Hormuz will give a new impetus to global trade and energy supply.

According to analysts, this development is not just a compromise between two countries but a test for the entire region. If all parties show seriousness, consistency and political will, this agreement could prove to be the beginning of a new and relatively peaceful era in the Middle East.
