Islamabad – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has released the details of financial recovery, recovery of government land and relief to the victims while releasing the performance report for the first half of the year 2026. The report says that the agency has made progress in accountability proceedings as well as in cases related to public interest.

According to NAB, Rs2,452 billion was recovered during the second quarter, after which the total recovery from January to June 2026 reached Rs5,414 billion. The report also stated that the total volume of direct and indirect recoveries was recorded at Rs 16.94 trillion during the period March 2023 to June 2026.

According to the report, operations were carried out in various provinces and the federal capital to protect government land, resulting in the recovery of 1,078,283 acres of land. NAB said that these operations were carried out after investigations related to illegal encroachments, suspicious allotments and protection of government land.

Among the regional offices, NAB Sukkur recovered the largest area, while NAB Balochistan, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Multan also participated in the recovery of various types of government land. The report also includes the estimated financial value of land in some areas.

NAB has also highlighted the relief provided to the victims in its half-yearly report. According to the organisation, more than 24,365 people affected by housing projects and financial fraud have returned their dues and properties, the total value of which is Rs 42.303 billion.

The report also mentions institutional reforms. According to NAB, to make the investigation system more effective, digital workflow has been introduced through Pak e-Office, while the artificial intelligence (AI)-based data analytics and evidence verification system is also being gradually expanded. For this purpose, the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy has been activated as a modern training centre.

According to analysts, the data released by NAB presents the official position of the organisation’s performance. The effectiveness and long-term impact of these results will be assessed on the basis of future court proceedings, completion of recoveries and a transparent accountability process, while protection of government land and provision of timely relief to victims will remain important indicators in the future.
