KARACHI – Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that Israel is committing open genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Pakistan’s political leadership and the international community have remained silent. Addressing the “Solidarity Gaza March” organized by Jamaat-e-Islami on Shara Faisal in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem said that the UN Charter has been trampled and Israeli brutality is increasing day by day.
He called on the PML-N, PPP, and PTI to raise their voices in favor of the Palestinian people and openly condemn the US and Israel. Hafiz Naeem said that bathed children and women are being targeted in Gaza, while Western powers are turning a blind eye to this atrocity.
He said that every sane person in the world stands with the people of Gaza; even in the United States, half of the population supports the Palestinian people. He recalled that Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, had refused to recognize Israel, saying, “Our basis is not for sale.”
The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami announced that it would show solidarity with the Palestinians through a shutdown strike across the country on April 22. He said that the hearts of the people of Pakistan beat with the people of Palestine and Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to raise its voice in their favor.
