Tehran: Amid the ongoing tension between Iran and the United States, strong statements are coming out from Iran’s top leadership.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s threats, Ali Larijani, Secretary General of Iran’s National Security Council, said that the Iranian nation cannot be intimidated by any kind of empty threat.

In his statement, he said that the Iranian nation is connected to the philosophy of Ashura and the spirit of sacrifice; therefore, it is not possible to bend such a nation through pressure or threats.

Ali Larijani said that in the past, many powers had claimed to destroy or weaken Iran, but they failed in their goals.

Addressing the US president, he said that lessons should be learned from history and that statements that could further increase tensions in the region should be avoided.

The Iranian leader warned that if any power chooses the path of aggression against Iran, its consequences could be serious.

He mentioned the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, saying that this sea route is extremely important for global trade and oil transportation.

According to Ali Larijani, the Strait of Hormuz is a passage that can also become a source of prosperity for the world; however, if the path of war and conflict is chosen, this path can also lead to difficulties and failures.

He said that Iran wants peace in the region, but if its sovereignty or interests are threatened, Iran will take all possible measures to defend itself.

According to experts, the escalating rhetoric between Iran and the United States could affect not only the Middle East but also global energy markets, as the Strait of Hormuz is a crucial route for global oil shipments.
