Tehran Links Regional Peace: Ghalibaf Insists on Ceasefire for Lebanon in Talks with US
TEHRAN: In a significant diplomatic signal, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an inseparable part of Iran’s broader peace negotiations.
Speaking with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, Ghalibaf confirmed that Tehran is actively working to “compel” its adversaries to accept a permanent ceasefire in every conflict zone affected by the recent war. “For us, a ceasefire in Lebanon is just as important as a ceasefire in Iran,” Ghalibaf said, highlighting that the Iranian leadership will not accept a partial peace that leaves its regional allies vulnerable.
As mediation efforts—partially led by Pakistan—continue to show progress, these comments suggest that any final agreement between the U.S. and Iran will likely include a comprehensive “all-or-nothing” roadmap for the entire region.
