Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that it is not possible to move forward without a permanent strategy to get Pakistan out of the serious water crisis.
Addressing a seminar on water resources conservation held in Islamabad, he said that we do not want to just score points on the problems but want to bring their real solutions to the public.
He said that in 2017, Pakistan was given a loan facility for Early Warning Systems but no practical work was done on it. It is the failure of the governments that neither a system was put in place nor responsibilities were determined.
Hafiz Naeem said that temporary measures regarding water are not enough, but a permanent policy and national consensus are the need of the hour. He said that it is not the lack of experts in our country but the lack of integrity that is making the problems serious.
He added that the Pakistani nation has always defeated the enemy in difficult times, now it is time to collectively confront a major challenge like water.
