Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrated across Pakistan, reduction in punishments and security on high alert

ISLAMABAD: Today, 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is being celebrated across Pakistan with great devotion and respect. The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital Islamabad while 21-gun salute was fired in all provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered on the occasion for the security, progress and unity of the Muslim Ummah.


Events and Security Arrangements


Seminars, conferences and Naat gatherings are being organized across the country on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In addition, processions are being taken out. All cities, streets and markets have been beautifully decorated. Green flags and electric lights have been installed on government and private buildings, mosques and homes.
On the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), police authorities have made strict security arrangements. IG Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that full security will be provided to the bright gatherings, rallies and processions across the province. Security has been put on high alert to avoid any untoward incident.

Reduction in sentences of prisoners


The federal government has announced a reduction in the sentences of prisoners on the occasion of this auspicious day. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the federal cabinet has recommended to the President that the sentences of prisoners serving sentences for various crimes under Article 45 of the Constitution of Pakistan be reduced by 100 days.


Messages from the President and Prime Minister


President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have congratulated the nation and the Muslim Ummah on this auspicious day. In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the birth of the Prophet of the Last Days (PBUH) showed humanity new paths of justice, equality and mercy. He stressed that a lasting solution to the problems facing Pakistan is possible only when we make the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) a part of our national character. Similarly, President Asif Zardari described this day as a cause of joy and devotion for the Muslim Ummah.
