ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the resurgence of tensions between Iran and Israel in the Middle East and urged all parties to exercise restraint and give peace another chance to save the region from further destruction and instability.

In a statement released on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said that the recent violence in the Middle East is a reminder of how dangerous a fragile ceasefire can be and can result in serious humanitarian and regional crises. He stressed that in the current situation, only diplomacy and negotiations, rather than the use of force, can guarantee lasting peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is making serious and sustained efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully, in collaboration with its brotherly countries and international partners. He said that there is a possibility of progress towards peace, and all parties concerned should seize this opportunity.

In his message, the Prime Minister also expressed the hope that ongoing diplomatic contacts will help reduce tensions in the region. He said that violence and military actions only create further damage and instability, while dialogue and diplomacy based on mutual respect can form the basis for a lasting solution to the problems.

This statement comes at a time when Iran and Israel have once again exchanged attacks despite a ceasefire. The fresh clashes have put peace efforts in the region to a new test and have increased the concern of the international community.

According to government sources, Pakistan has played an active role in reducing tensions at various diplomatic levels during the past few months. Islamabad has consistently expressed the position that peace in the Middle East is possible only through dialogue, confidence-building and respect for international law.

According to political and diplomatic experts, Pakistan’s emphasis on restraint and dialogue is in line with its traditional foreign policy, in which regional stability, international cooperation and peaceful resolution of conflicts are of primary importance.

Observers say that in the current circumstances, the responsibility of global and regional powers has increased to play an effective role in reducing tensions so that the ceasefire can be maintained and the region can be saved from a major crisis.
