Karachi: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Sindh government has proven its capability in the health sector after the 18th Amendment and NICVD is a clear example of this, which has become the largest heart treatment network in the world today. He said that this success was possible due to public-private partnership and the extraordinary support of Karachi’s philanthropic community.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the new block of Jinnah Hospital Karachi, he said that the Sindh government understands the financial difficulties of the federation and is ready to fully cooperate in the process of tax collection. He said that “If the target set by the FBR is not met, Sindh can meet its share and give the money to the federation.”

He criticized the former prime minister and said that there was a time when governments used to go from city to city and declare the federation bankrupt, but the PPP, on the contrary, provided free and quality treatment to the people.

Bilawal Bhutto, mentioning the NICVD centers established in Sukkur, Hyderabad, Mithi, Sehwan and Shaheed Benazirabad, said that Sindh proved that it can handle major crises on its own even during the Corona epidemic.

Economic experts say that Sindh’s offer of tax collection could be a significant development for the current system of fiscal centralization, however, this decision will be effective only when the provinces and the federation form a common policy framework and integrate the tax system in a transparent manner.
