Karachi: Selling pressure continued on the Pakistan Stock Exchange during the last trading week, as a result of which the benchmark KSE-100 Index fell by about 4,045 points. The index closed at 162,374.88 points at the end of the week.
According to market data, the weekly decline in the index was 2.43 percent. During this period, share prices continued to fluctuate, with the highest level of the trading week being 166,698 points and the lowest level being 162,292 points.
A total of 1.96 billion shares were traded in the stock market, worth about Rs 96 billion. On the other hand, the total market value decreased by Rs 465 billion to Rs 18,014 billion.
According to the latest market reports, the increasing tension in the Middle East and the increase in oil prices in the global market have affected the confidence of investors. Expensive oil for Pakistan raises the possibility of increasing import costs and external payment pressures, which may also have an impact on the trend of the stock market.
The State Bank’s upcoming monetary policy decision is also the focus of investors. Interest rate expectations can affect the financial costs of businesses, investments and share prices.
However, the market direction in the coming days will depend on economic data, financial results of companies, global oil prices and regional conditions.
